The Wilton & District Youth Band was formed over 40 years ago by Dennis Chalk BEM, and was developed from a small ensemble that used to rehearse in his front room, to the band of the Wilton Middle School and eventually, once a growth in reputation and players saw a fully fledged brass band, the Wilton and District Youth Band.

We are a contesting band and compete across the local area in regional competitions. In the past, the band was fortunate to compete at a national level when in 1993, the youth band came 7th in the National Youth Brass Band Championships in Manchester. The band has experienced contesting success when the senior band achieved 5th place in the 2009 regional championships in Torquay, and the youth band were the victors of the 2009 Wessex Youth Band Contest, becoming the champions of Wessex.

The band can provide music for a variety of events including concerts, corporate event, church services, fates and garden parties. We have a incredibly diverse repertoire which includes traditional, modern and entertaining music from our extensive 800 item music library.

We are a friendly and outgoing band that is keen to welcome new players, of any age and ability and improve the quality of music that we make, but also spread the enjoyment of music making throughout the area.

The band meet for rehearsals at Broad Chalke Village Hall on the following days:

Juniors Sunday 5.30pm - 6.30pm

Seniors Tuesday 7pm - 9pm

All ages are welcome, instruments will be provided for you.
